A year ago, I was on my grand Japan adventure—three and a half weeks of the most beautiful places in the world.
For me, the most surprising part of the trip was how much Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea gripped me. I was frolicking every day, in line for some of the best experiences of my life and eating incredible food. But, I also spent a shocking amount of time in a quaint store, tucked in the corner of the theme park, purely devoted to only beauty products.
Welcome to my dreams: La Petite Parfumerie. This small, beautiful perfume store looks like it's from a Disney princess movie. Hiding in the corner of Disneyland's French Quarter, this store holds some of the most extravagant products. The best part is that they’re all decently priced, too. All products in this article are priced between $17-$30 AUD ish each.
This store is stocked to the heavens with products in iridescent and lustrous packaging (my weakness), and even now to this date, I cannot bring myself to throw it out. Plus, you can tell from the videos below, the golden hour from the sun brings out the magic.
I’ll be honest, I’m not a fragrance reviewer, but I cannot stop yapping about these products so you will also succumb to my excitement.
The descriptions of each product have been translated from Japanese to English via Google Translate, so the sentences might not be translated coherently.
Body emulsion: Scent Whispered by the Queen
Description: “A body emulsion with a gorgeous and elegant fragrance that spreads the sweetness of floral and vanilla. Moisturises your skin and makes it smooth.”
An ode to The Evil Queen in Snow White. My favourite part about this body emulsion is that it’s not sticky or too thick. I don’t want my skin to feel heavy from a body cream and this product moisturises beautifully and wholly. This makes it a great choice, all year round.
She’s so mother.
Sweet Scent Whispered by the Queen
Description: “The Sweetness of floral and vanilla spreads lightly, and the gentle and elegant scent envelopes your heart.”
A second product influenced by The Evil Queen. This fragrance emits walking into a room and commanding the audience with just a look.
Everyone has a sweet spot for the Disney villains, and that same sweetness is held in this bottle. Imagine walking down a staircase at an event as everyone turns their heads to watch you. It’s a fragrance when you know exactly what you’re doing, knowing that there’s a part of your story that no one knows of… until they do.
Hair Repair Essence
Description: “Non-rinse hair treatment with a fruity floral scent that adds moisture to your hair and gives it a smooth shine. A lively and cute scent. Can be used on both wet and dry hair.”
Rapunzel from Tangled was the obvious choice as the star of the hair repair essence. I love that I’m able to use it on both wet and dry hair because with long hair you can’t wait for your hair to dry and I’m too lazy to use my Dyson airwrap every night. It’s a dream come true. It’s also not as heavy as a hair oil, this way it doesn’t look like there’s added weight on top of the hair.
BB Fruity Floral Scent
Description: “A scent full of elegance and excitement that gently envelopes you with the scent of fresh fruits, jasmine, and sweet flowers of rose.”
It’s a gorgeous scent that I wear when I need to go anywhere important, I want to smell the part of being ‘Belle of the Ball’. The art of fragrance is manifestation. The feeling of the perfume you can make how your day goes. I also like using this as an everyday fragrance when I want to feel a little sweeter and kinder. A scent to feel the day.
Fruity Floral Scent
Description: “A calm fragrance that hints at elegance, combining the freshness of fruity with gorgeous floral notes.”
As you can see, this perfume has Cinderella’s castle in the centre, with roses in the background. You can tour the castle itself at Tokyo Disneyland and take a journey through Cinderella’s story while wandering through the halls. The fragrance is a scent for springtime, a scent for fun. This is my holiday perfume, ready for adventure and travel. Good for any type of day.
Marine Fruity Scent
Description: “A bright, refreshing scent that combines fresh fruit and aquatic floral notes.”
Shaped like a magic potion as a nod to the Disney Princess it channels - Ariel from The Little Mermaid, this fragrance mimics the freshness of being at the beach and smelling the ocean’s waves. Mixed with floral notes, this is an obvious beach day choice, great for the summer.
Body mist Enchanting scent wrapped in magic
Description: “A body mist that has a bright scent and then wraps around you with a deep floral scent. It moisturises your skin and makes it healthy.”
Inspired by Maleficent, I use this almost every day. I didn’t realise this was a body mist to spray on your skin to help moisturise and smell nice until recently. It’s incredibly easy to use (burnt-out Mary-Ann approved), now it’s time to make it a habit.
BONUS: Tokyo Disneyland sunscreen SPF 50+ PA ++++
This wasn’t from the fragrance store, but I couldn’t leave it out! This Toy Story-themed sunscreen was one of my purchase highlights. A ramune-scented, light blue bubblegum texture that rubs in smoothly for both face and body.
Personally, I think it smells like candy, with a non-sticky finish and no white cast. There’s no pilling when applying make-up after, too. Creamy yet lightweight - this means that you will need to rub this in for a moment, but once rubbed in there’s no cast. Lastly, it’s obviously so adorable.
The only thing that I do regret now is that there were so many more products in the store that I didn’t buy that I’m not experiencing. Now, you can probably see why I became so devoted to Tokyo Disneyland. I cannot wait to go back and see if there’s any newness in 2025.
