Conserving Beauty Review: The bestselling trio set is put to the test
Consciously looking after your skin and the planet.
Conserving Beauty is turning the page on the industry, one makeup wipe at a time. It’s refreshing to see a beauty brand that actually puts their money where their mouths are. Here’s what they value:
The brand is taking action on water conservation by being the first beauty member of The Water Footprint Network. According to their website, research indicates that two-thirds of the population will live in a water-shortage environment by 2035. For this reason, all products are waterless.
In terms of waste, products are encased in a compostable carton, which is recyclable. One-use products like wipes and sheet masks are biodegradable in water, and if not near water, the fabric will break down in landfill within seven days.
Tree conservation: One mangrove will be planted for each purchase in terms of tree conservation. Lastly, ingredients-wise, the products are vegan, palm-free and cruelty-free.
When it comes to what’s important, Conserving Beauty gets it. While their sustainability values are spot on, let’s see if the products are, too. I bought their Bestselling Trio set: the Thirsty Face Dissolving Sheet Mask, InstaMelt™ Day Dissolver Wipes and the Conserve You Face Oil. These products are part of a set.

InstaMelt™ Day Dissolver Wipes
Makeup wipes have been scrutinized for the last couple of years, and for good reason. They’re a common tool that is discarded in the bin, often unable to be recyclable or biodegradable. Luckily, thanks to the voices of the consumer, this is changing, and Conserving Beauty is doing its part.
The brand has created InstaMelt™ fabric technology, a water-soluble polymer made in a lab. It dissolves within 60 seconds after use, leaving no microplastics or waste behind. Ripping off the wrapper and grabbing the wipe inside reminded me of KFC’s hand and face wipes. The wipe is completely lathered in an oily film of a first cleanse, made to dissolve makeup and sunscreen.
Unfortunately, it’s not very soft. The wipe has a rough texture and would not be suitable for sensitive skin types or use directly around the eyes. To avoid this, I recommend rubbing the oil around your eyes with your fingers rather than putting the wipes directly around your eyes.
This is great for travelling. It dissolves in running water, and the brand recommends dissolving it when you’re already using water—whether it be when you’re about to shower or wash your hands. Overall, this product is almost at the finish line but did not deliver at this point.
Thirsty Face Dissolving Sheet Mask
A biodegradable sheet mask! I know some people have been moving away from generic sheet masks because it’s another one-use product.
It’s hydrating, but the texture is too heavy for a sheet mask. It’s also not calming or cooling like the usual sheet mask. I imagine myself using this on harsh winter nights. It's unsuitable for summer because it’s so greasy and oily; it's a wet mess.
It contains active ingredients, including 5% Hyaluronic Acid, 5% Pro-vitamin B5, and 10% Niacinamide (B3). It also contains squalane and green tea seed extract.
Conserve You Face Oil
This is my favourite of the three because I can add it to any routine. The face oil gives an incredibly healthy glow. It’s a 2-in-1 moisturising oil and face primer.
But after using the first two products, my skin is already glowy and oily. It doesn’t really need more. The face oil is the least oily of the trio (read that again, literally!). I’d recommend waiting a period of time before applying so that your skin can absorb the product.
Featuring ingredients such as sunflower seed oil, vitamin E (tocopherol), rice extract, cannabis sativa seed oil, soybean oil, and blue tansy, this product ticks all the boxes. Its texture doesn’t pill and is great under makeup.
Ending thoughts:
Although not everything was a hit, I did enjoy myself when using these products.
To summarise how the experience felt: Oil on top of oil on top of oil. Don’t get me wrong, I love oil-based products! But for my skin, this was too much.
Great first products, but with a brand so forward-thinking like Conserving Beauty, anything that needs to be worked on will probably be fixed in the future.
I’m not turned off by the brand at all. In fact, I’m excited to try the dissolving zit strips, Cicacalm moisturiser and any future products that may be on the way.
The biodegradable feature of their single-use products is phenomenal!
If you know me, you know I love a good brand story. Conserving Beauty might be one of the best.
